Early Intervention Update

Well the call i been waiting for couple of weeks has finally arrived.  Sophia is not eligible for the program because they feel she is not so far behind.  I am happy in some way.  Because at least i know she is not so far behind.  Not the way everybody is telling me that she needs help.  Now i must do what i can to help more.  They did point out that she need to learn more action words like, play, eat, drink, sleep, go out…etc.  I am trying everyday.  To all the mother’s out there.  Have a little patient.  All kids will eventually talk.  Not to expect so much.  Every kids development are different.  You would only scare them if you push them too hard.

The teacher that came to my house actually taught me some technique to teach Sophia.  For example:  Use a doll.  Try to play with the doll and tell them what you are doing.  Like you are feeding a bottle to the doll.  Tell them. “Baby drink milk”  Or when you eat.  Pretend you are feeding the baby and tell your kid.  ”Baby eating”  These are just some of the example they taught me.  Also like Sophia, she usually just point and expect me to give her the thing she is pointing at.   A better way is.  Teach her to say.  ” Mommy give please ”  If after couple of tries and they still refuse to say it.  Give it to them anyway.  And try it some other time.

I have been using their technique for about 2 weeks now.  I think it does help Sophia.  She is better than before.  Little steps goes a long way.  I am just glad there’s improvement.
